Hope everyone is doing well and working toward any goals that you’ve set.

Good to hear that you are exercising alot! Just be careful that you don’t over do it and hurt yourself. Have heard that a good rule of thumb for overeating is to only allow yourself one day a week to overeat, then it won’t hurt you. And if you are drinking, there goes all your willpower! Booze also has alot of calories. Hasn’t it been awful, as you said, that so many rock legends & Alan Rickman have died in one week! If you notice they are in their late 60’s, which for this day and age is TOO YOUNG! And why – they took too many drugs & drank too much. You are young old in your 70’s, middle old in your 80’s and old old in your 90’s, since the life expectancy has been increasing so much. (Know about this because I am a nurse.) It is very difficult this time of year. Did you know that yesterday was suppose to be the most depressing day of the year? It was Blue Monday – when all the Christmas bills come due and there is nothing immediately to look forward to. January is not a very inspirational month to diet in! Listened to B.B. King most of yesterday. Agree that eating is the big obstacle. It still is for me. A good book to get is “The Emotional Eater’s Book of Inspiration” by Debbie Danowski, PhD. She was an emotional eater and lost 160 pounds and has kept it off. It has small chapters entitled, “Your calendar is making you fat”, “”Food lies” cause emotional eating”, “You won’t lose weight by rubbing up against a thin person”, etc. What I am trying to do is to write down what I eat. When I do, I discover that I am eating MUCH more than I realize. Also getting a Fitbit has helped me to see how much I really move. I see now that I actually walk only 2,000 to 4,000 steps a day if I am not working. So the Fitbit is helping me to get my house clean. I tell myself to aim at 10,000 steps a day and I end up cleaning my house and putting things away alot more trying to achieve that. Coping is also a skill that we have to relearn without food. This whole journey is not easy, but I think you are doing a great job and you are a great inspiration!
